Marriott Vacation Club recently announced their purchase of The Edgewater Hotel in South Beach, Miami, FL for a cool $23.5 million.
Marriott Vacation Club, one of the most prolific leaders in vacation ownership worldwide, has chosen the historic property to join their renowned Marriott Vacation Club Destinations program. The Edgewater Hotel, which will be re branded as Marriott Vacation Club, South Beach, is comprised of gorgeous studios and suites that are currently available through the Destinations program as well as through Interval International, Marriott Vacation Club’s affiliated international timeshare exchange company.

This purchase hastily followed MVC’s purchase of The Strand in New York City, which came under the new management in January and will be rebranded to Marriott Vacation Club on March 5th. With both of these purchases, Marriott Vacation Club has acquired two properties in hugely metropolitan areas, expanding their reach to incorporate two vastly different cultures under the same brand.
Marriott Vacation Club, South Beach will be renovated to integrate the resort’s historical elements with a unique modern design. The company has also announced that it has dropped its previously disclosed commitment to obtain a 182-unit property in South Beach. The announcement of this highly sought after destination further establishes Marriott Vacation Club’s growth strategy of adding exceptional new locations to its portfolio of properties and resorts around the globe. Owners and guests are just a stone’s throw away from the best South Beach has to offer. The resort which was in 1936, is one of Ocean Drive’s most iconic properties. Owners and guests will be right in the center of all the action of South Beach from the restaurants and galleries of Lincoln Road to the boutique shops and nightclubs of Collins and Washington Avenues to the crystalline waters of Miami Beach. Through 2016, the new resort in South Beach will undergo a renovation which will enhance the mix of history with unique contemporary design.
