If you are not able to take advantage of your Marriott timeshare every year, then consider renting it out!
According to a recent industry survey- 85% of timeshare owners are happy with their timeshare purchase. However, the same survey also indicates that only 26% of these owners, actually use their time each year.
So why such a big discrepancy between the two figures?
Whilst we all dream of a well deserved holiday, at the end of a hard days work- unfortunately, sometimes life gets in the way and our daydream, does not always become a reality on such a regular basis, as we would like. Taking this into account, no matter how happy owners may be with their Marriott timeshare purchase, it is likely that the average timeshare owner can’t find the time for a week-long holiday, to an exotic destination every year. A unforseen busy work schedule or the complications of family life can (and do) interfere with one’s holiday plans.
What many owners don´t always remember, or perhaps they are unaware, that there is always the option of exchanging a timeshare for a more convenient week, but if you simply can’t get away, this often adds up to a different unused timeshare in a different location. Clients have often told us, that even though they have had the same timeshare week for ten years or more, due to unforseen circumstances, they have never actually had an opportunity to use it. A situation like this, although seemingly rather frustrating, would significantly less troublesome, if it weren’t for the (often) high initial purchasing price of the timeshare unit itself, as well as maintenance fees and other non-refundable expenses.
So, in recent years, many clients who aren’t using their timeshare. have come to us to seek advice on ways to alleviate this financial burden. Often, we suggest that an owner rent their unused timeshare. The benefits of renting your timeshare are plentiful.
Timeshare weeks do vary in value, depending on the particular week in question as well as the demand for the resort. In order to appropriately determine a timeshare’s value, these factors need to be taken into account.
Subsequent rentals of your timeshare (assuming that the asking price and the fees remain the same), can yield a healthy profit for the timeshare owner. This ultimately makes more sense than simply paying for a timeshare that you will rarely use.
